Earlier this year, Matt Pollard took on the 2026 London Marathon in memory of our friend and colleague Mike Cooke.
Mike sadly passed away following his battle with cancer just before Christmas. Thames Hospice cared for Mike during his final weeks, and Matt chose to take on the marathon to raise money for the charity and the support it provides to people and their families.
Matt's marathon place was sponsored by Pat Kiely, Neil Wilson and Paul Cunningham at Ford UK, helping make the challenge possible.
He originally set himself a fundraising target of £2,500, but with support from colleagues, friends, family and the wider Herd network, Matt went on to raise £4,439 for Thames Hospice.
Taking on 26.2 miles is a huge challenge, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who supported Matt's fundraising, as well as Pat, Neil and Paul at Ford UK for sponsoring his place.
Most importantly, the money raised will support Thames Hospice and the work it does for people requiring palliative and end-of-life care and their families.
A brilliant achievement by Matt and a fitting tribute to Mike.
Original Herd Group LinkedIn post:
“I am running in aid of Thames Hospice, who looked after our friend and colleague Mike in his final days. Having met some of the team on my visits, I know the dedication, care and love that the staff put into every day.”
