Chris Lindsey serves as Senior Fleet Maintenance Controller at Herd Group's Operations Team, overseeing vehicle service and repair to ensure reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness while delivering exceptional customer care.

Q: Could you tell us about your role?

A: My role as Senior Fleet Maintenance Controller is to manage & oversee the service, maintenance and repair of both the Herd Group fleet, as well as that of our client's own vehicles that we fleet manage through Herd Connect.

Q: What are the most important responsibilities of your role?

A: Achieving optimal costs while reducing vehicle downtime, and verifying that all repairs are genuinely necessary and justified.

Q: What are your top tips to help customers avoid unplanned mechanical issues?

A: Leverage Herd Connect's Driver App - it enables drivers to report vehicle conditions, track MOT and service schedules, and arrange maintenance appointments, providing visibility into potential issues before they become serious problems.

Q: Can you give us an example of where you've saved costs for a Herd Connect customer recently?

A: One recent case involved reducing an engine oil leak repair from £253.41 to £181.03 through improved parts and labour negotiations - representing a 33% cost reduction.

A: Scheduled maintenance reminders, extensive supplier networks, the Herd Hotline with breakdown assistance, and mobile tyre services to minimise inconvenience.

Q: In your words, what are the benefits of using Herd Connect?

A: Herd Connect customers can leave the fleet management of their vehicles to us, freeing up their time to concentrate on other things. We treat their vehicles as though they were our own.
